When I left Tormead I went to Exeter University and studied BA Geography.

After I left university, I took a break and went travelling around South America. It
was fantastic to take some time out to explore new places and meet new friends
without the stress of work or study. A highlight was definitely trekking around
Patagonia as well as up Macchu Picchu!

I have just started a Graduate Scheme to train to become a Chartered
Surveyor which I am really enjoying. However, I have found working in a
large organisation can be quite daunting at times, as it requires me to step
out of my comfort zone and regularly work with new people.

Plans for the future: I will definitely hop on a plane as soon as possible! Not
only just for more travelling, but I would also love to work abroad for a few years
during my career.

I loved competing in Sports Teams at School, from Netball to Swimming, as it
gave me a chance to meet new classmates and take some time out. I would
also recommend taking part in the Young Enterprise Scheme if you get the
chance, as I learnt so much about business as well as my own skillset.

Best piece of advice I have been given: Just say YES! When you leave school
there will be so many great opportunities on offer, so do your best to say YES
as much as you can. I’m still learning to say yes, but I have found the more I’ve
stepped out and agreed to take on a task or learn a new skill, the easier it has
become to not be afraid of new challenges.

I would tell my younger self to not compare yourself to others -
it is a waste of your time, energy and can be the thief of joy!
It is important to work collaboratively and in community with
my friends and colleagues, but not to compare myself to them.
