Thank you so much to Jemima who returned to Tormead yesterday to share her passion for Physics and inspire the next generation of scientists.

Jemima left Tormead 4 years ago. In the Sixth form, she changed career direction from medicine to follow her passion for Physics. She has just completed a Masters Course in Physics at Leicester University and is about to start a PhD with Sheffield University, for part of which she will be working at the bottom of Boulby mine (Britain's deepest) investigating background radiation as part of a team hunting for elusive "dark matter" particles in cosmic rays.

She was very generous with her time and we cannot thank her enough.

She gave a fascinating talk to Sixth Form, Year 10 & Year 11 Physicists about what got her into Physics, what her Physics course entailed and what it was like to study at university - as well as the science behind her PhD.

She talked eloquently in Year 11's assembly about following your passions when choosing A-levels  - and it being OK to change your mind.

Finally, Jemima was able to join the Sixth Form Physicists for lunch and was able to answer their questions in more detail.

Thank you so much Jemima.
