"Remote Work Revolution for Everyone"
The recent (seemingly seismic) shift in the dialogue around COVID-19 has raised the possibility that some at least may again be working from home. Some will no doubt be ecstatic, and others appalled. It seems few are ambivalent. While as a teacher there is nothing better than being in the classroom, I loved the challenge of refining my communication style and learning new technology skills. With this in mind, I couldn't help but notice a course from Harvard called "Remote Work Revolution for Everyone". Here is the link. In a previous post I talked about how to build networks in person, but part of this course is all about building connections and trust with colleagues you may not see very often. This is a course that covers key concepts as well as practical suggestions. I cannot wait to start!

Research discussed in a recent Harvard Business review article highlights that the skills needed to succeed in today's evolving and ever-changing world are changing and growing in number, but they are hard to predict with certainty. Online options allow a dynamic approach with people empowered and enabled to make the right choices they need to build the right skills at the right time to succeed. Research shows that skills acquired this way are more likely to be transferred into workplace usage and culture. Key in this approach are "skill disseminators" - people who can upskill, motivate, and influence the people around them.
